”Yoga is not about self-improvement, but about self-acceptance.”

Hatha Yin Yoga Pranayama Meditation

In our new yoga studio in Nusse, I am happy to share my experiences and accompany people on their journey, guiding them to more inner peace, health, and balance through yoga, meditation, yoga nidra, and breathing exercises. My wish is to create a space where you can (re)discover your own strength and develop resilience for your everyday life.

Due to my work at a computer, I developed poor posture and chronic muscle tension in my back and shoulders in my late twenties. I often suffered from neck pain and headaches. The therapies recommended by doctors – massages, heat treatments, physical therapy, and targeted muscle training – only provided short-term relief.

I first encountered yoga while on vacation with friends: a yoga teacher friend invited me to practice with the group every day. After just one week, I felt a significant improvement, and after two weeks I was almost pain-free. That sparked my enthusiasm for yoga.

At first, I attended yoga classes at my gym – purely for pragmatic reasons, to get rid of my back pain. But I soon noticed many other positive effects: greater flexibility, inner peace, and better body awareness. I began to discover and try out different styles of yoga—classic Hatha yoga, Power Vinyasa, Hot and Bikram yoga, Kundalini yoga—and eventually put together my own sequences, which became an integral part of my daily routine.

In 2010, I added meditation to my practice. In search of balance in my often stressful job, I had already tried various methods—autogenic training, qigong, tai chi—until I found Buddhist meditation.

I joined a Tibetan Buddhist school, attended retreats, and learned about different forms of meditation over the years.

When I met my wife Pook in 2015, my yoga practice deepened once again.

Together, we opened a small yoga and meditation homestay in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand, in 2017. Initially, my focus was entirely on introductory courses in meditation.

Inspired by my wife, we decided in 2018 to travel to India together to delve deeper into the spiritual roots of yoga at the Vidya Gurukul Ashram. There I completed training in traditional Hatha Yoga and Yoga Nidra – yogic sleep. We studied yoga philosophy, pranayama (breathing techniques), shatkarmas (cleansing techniques), and meditation intensively.

Back in Thailand, we taught together in our homestay until we returned to Germany in 2019.
